Ease of use
While it may be an entry-level model in the Fiio lineup, it runs on a Snapdragon 660 processor with an Android 10-based OS, and the performance is very smooth. If a digital audio player (DAP) is for casual listening (but quality is still essential), I believe an ease of use is highly important. Personally, I found the user interface of Sony Walkman NW-WM1AM2 not to be comfortable with my preferences, so I ended up not using it much and eventually sold it.
Fiio M11S is Roon Ready, you need to launch the app as Roon bridge (I don’t mean Roon Remote app) and keep it running. By installing Roon Remote as well and setting the output to this device, it can function as a DAP within your local area network (LAN) without requiring any data to be stored on the device itself. (I’m not sure how much needs there is for this usage, but I personally find it appealing.)
Sound quality
Despite being an entry-level device, the price reflects its quality. There’s nothing bad about it. In a separate article, I compared it to the M15S, and unless you listen attentively, you won’t notice the difference. Of course, there is a noticeable gap in sound quality when compared to high-end models, but considering the price of M15S more than twice as much, the cost-performance of M11S should not be underestimated.
